Our Rainbow Room

For any family on the Isle of Man bereaved by the loss of a child or young person under the age of 19, the Rainbow Room in Rebecca House provides a private place of rest for the child until the day of the funeral.

This service is available to all families irrespective of the circumstances of the child or young person’s death.

Family Accommodation

Parents and siblings can stay in the Rebecca House Family Apartment while the child is in the Rainbow Room, giving them the ability to visit the child at any time. Other visitors are welcome from 8am to 8pm at the family’s discretion.

Room Personalisation

Personalising the room to make it a version of the child's own bedroom can bring some comfort during this very sad and difficult time. Treasured photographs, pictures, posters, bed linen and favourite toys can be used to furnish the room, and many families also choose to play music.

Bereavement Support

After the funeral, the family will be offered bereavement support by the Rebecca House team. Leading up to the anniversary of the child or young person’s death, the Rebecca House team will make contact with the family to discuss whether they would like a memorial stone to be made for their child. Memorial stones are placed around the fountain in the Rebecca House Remembrance Garden, a private area that families can visit freely in remembrance of their child.

Sophie's Story

Rebecca House child, Sophie

“When Sophie passed, she was moved to the Rainbow Room where she rested until the day of her funeral. The Rainbow Room provided a personal, peaceful place where we could go and sit with her, and we were able to play her favourite music. To sum up Rebecca House: “Angels without wings.” They enabled us to say goodbye to our little girl in comfort and with dignity. We will always be grateful.”
