When Gordon Brew was receiving care from Hospice Isle of Man's Hospice at Home team, it wasn't just the practical support that made a difference. It was the kindness, companionship and reassurance that helped make every day a little easier for both Gordon and his family.

From their very first visit, the team quickly became a source of comfort and support.

"Gordon always looked forward to seeing the girls from Hospice at Home," his family said. "Any equipment he needed to help him stay comfortable was organised for him, and he always felt able to talk openly about how he was feeling."

Whether they were providing specialist support or simply sharing a cup of tea and a chat, the Hospice at Home team became an important part of Gordon's life. Their visits brought not only professional care, but friendship, understanding and a reassuring presence during an incredibly difficult time.

As Gordon's needs changed, the team worked quickly to arrange additional equipment and support to help him remain comfortable at home, ensuring both Gordon and his family felt cared for every step of the way.

The support did not end with Gordon's passing. In the weeks that followed, the family received a thoughtful card from the team, checking in to see how they were coping and reminding them that they were not alone.

Reflecting on the care Gordon received, his family shared:

Even after Gordon passed away, they were still thinking of us. We can't thank them enough for making his life easier during such a difficult time."
